Well, my new splash page plans for my site are going slowly... trying to figure out why I can't get a clock hand to revolve on a clock face properly in Flash (I know I'm on the right track, but now I've run across a different problem with it). Ah well... basically, my site needs slight reorganization and I need to take out one large, invisible frame that is pretty much just mucking up the works. It's not worth the effect I was going for when I did it originally, which was to take out the scrollbar on the side of the browser entirely if the whole site fit on the screen (say, if someone views the site at high resolution / large screen size). Yeah, it needs to go. Which means a lot of checking individual links on a lot of pages to be sure they aren't referencing the invisible frame that is going bye-bye.
I really like the theme song to Series of Unfortunate Events but it appears that nobody has made a midi verison of it, which is what I was looking for as it would load fast for the splash page. I've got a decent loop made out of the song sample available at amazon.com for the soundtrack cd... but copywrite infringement worries me. Plus, putting the wav file sound into the flash movie makes the flash movie a lot bigger, and I know the pains of dialup because I'm chained to it *cough* I mean, err, I'm using it. So all that's on the back burner while I try to work the bugs out of my Flash animation, or decide on a new design concept and skip the clock idea.
I just finished watching The Last Emperor which was a pretty good movie. I loved the architecture, costumes, etc. but I had a little trouble keeping up with the plot (flashbacks within flashbacks within flashbacks, anyone?) and there was a lot of adult content. The only problem with that last item was that the kids were watching too so we skipped the end of about three scenes/chapters on the DVD. Funny that I already know the theme song by heart... but then I know the music to quite a few films I haven't seen yet, and that's been true for much of my life. I had the soundtracks to both Blade Runner and Braveheart memorized before I got to see the films.
Hmm, I spose I should go work on my Flash clock problems. That or sit back and try another design concept. I need to solve this animation issue though, and I know I'll learn a lot just trying, so... DIE CLOCK DIE! Or well, I should say... SPIN, HANDS, SPIN!!!!!!!
