Effing Verizon. I should have known I was in for major trouble when the AC Adapter to the DSL modem came out of the box cracked badly enough if I wanted to I could rip the whole thing open. Not like I've thought about it, or anything. *cough* I did a hack-job rubberband repair job on the adaptor... and it appears to get sufficient power to the modem. But the DSL refuses to work. Verizon's tech support line says there might be difficulties signing up for new accounts while they perform maintenance on their servers, which should have been finished over an hour ago. I wanted to see if I could get this thing to work at all, regardless of how much of a fire hazard it is. GRRRRRRRRR!!!
Not impressed. So now I have to wait 3-5 days for a new AC Adapter (possibly a whole new box with modem and whatever), and not only that, but when the DSL modem is plugged into the phone line (yes, properly, I know how to follow destructions), the phone in the kitchen that gets used a lot has serious bad line issues. Which is exactly the opposite of what should have happened with the DSL filters being installed on everything that doesn't want the DSL interference. Suckage.
Oh and I need an ethernet cable in order to get DSL down to my room if it ever works. I already spent over $10 on the miscellanious parts my "new" TV/VCR combo needed to get running properly. I'm running out of money... and I wanted to try to reknew my EverQuest account for just one month when (if) DSL is working, just because. Cuz I miss it. Cuz I had friends there. Cuz I could socialize and help people and be useful and feel good about myself there. And cuz I don't want my characters to get deleted due to inactivity.
