so, yeah, droppin' dairy...
Apr. 22nd, 2009 04:16 pmSomething I thought I'd never do, mostly due to how limited my diet is already... and how much of it I eat... but now the thought of eating dairy makes me sick. I know I'm probably at least mildly allergic to it... but after reading up on how, uh, dairy pretty much shouldn't be consumed by human beings period.... yeah.
Meanwhile, I have taste buds that are super-sensitive to the point that it's beyond frustrating. Yay, Asperger's Syndrome. Might also have something to do with both my grandmothers being super-sensitive to chemicals (ie: medication)... as am I. So, uh, rice milk? Gagtastic. Soy cheese? Oh pleeeease...
Also, I was frustrated that I'd just bought a bunch of regular milk and cheese. I don't exactly have the kind of money to just throw that stuff right back out. So after not having eaten dairy for two days, I decided okay... half and half. Half rice milk, half regular milk in my cereal. Half cow cheese, half soy cheese in my quesadillas. Guess what... I can tolerate those levels! WHEEE! Nevermind that my gut is now telling me "yeah, by the way, dairy bad." It was probably healing up damage and stuff. >_>;;
But... I'm doing this week of phasing out for the sake of my taste buds... or I'd just drop dairy entirely, if my tongue could handle the new products straight. Being able to not completely gag and/or keep food down is a plus!
