I can't wait for the new Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie. I've finished reading the first three books of the trilogy (there's five so far). This evening I finished watching the 1981 television version created by BBC. And now, for something completely different...

I finished yet another scrap book, so yesterday I embarked on the "find a new scrapbook cover" concept. The end result was a photocopy of Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion colored in with colored pencils, with a big red painted target around her and a backdrop of Chinese newsprint. The title along the side is "Searching for me." [Edit: I think... lol... I'm editing this at a much later date after the link died, not sure where time image is anymore.]

Douglas Adams

Since Douglas Adams died on May 11, 2001, there probably won't be a sixth book added to the HG2G trilogy. But when you're done with it, you might enjoy his other books, plus the recently released compilation of his letters and an unfinished work, which is titled "Salmon of Doubt." This link to the book on Amazon.com also includes my associate ID:

I'm not a LJ user, so I'm forced to be anonymous. I just started my blog http://LudditeGeek.blogspot.com using Blogger last month, which you're welcome to visit. It's pretty lame, especially compared to yours.

All the best!

And that sucks about Adams but I have only just gotten into his stuff. I've just requested books 4 and 5 from the library, can't wait! ^_^

And I got a lot of help on my journal... I did the layout in Photoshop (and borrowed the yummi guy from a website of manga art scans) but had to have serious help on the background coding for the journal to look right in the layout. Plus I had to pay $25 to have a truly customizable journal for a year. It's all good though... until my subscription runs out. XD

Me again....

Well, now I have more motivation to write. Cool!

Once you read all the Douglas Adams material you can get your hands on, check out Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. Most libraries have a few of them, at least where I live. He describes a weird world in which magic is possible, and certain creatures have amazing abilities. There's still that "better off without technology" theme, like when the inspector's PDA goes off while he's on a covert stakeout. The PDA, incidentally, is a small box with an imp inside who pops up periodically to tell him he hasn't registered yet.

All the work you put into your journal and website shows! Great work! I hope you win several awards. Let me know if there's a place I can vote. I plan to link here once I put my Reading List into the sidebar.

Oops, forgot to answer "Who are you?"

I found out about your site/journal when you posted on the OASIS message board a few months ago.

I'm not as brave as you are though, to have my actual name on my personal website. Instead I like to bask in the illusion that no one knows who I am. What would my family think if people showed up at the house to take my picture and get my autograph? Besides, I do have my bio on other, less controversial, websites.

I think I just fried a brain cell. Too much philosophy reading today, methinks. Anyways, cool beans! Yeah I should post an update at the Oasis board sometime, but then the few times I have spent there haven't had the greatest results. I just said I would try to keep people updated there, and my honor-bound, black-and-white brain is making me feel guilty. Or something.

I don't know about any site-rating places, I'm sure they exist, but I don't worry about them (there are a few for webcomics but as that project is stalled I don't wanna try for all that right now). The one award I got was probably more for promotion of the other people's site than anything else. But I've still got it on show, just cuz. And I've heard of Discworld, I'll keep that in mind as I'm a fan of fantasy novels but getting tired of cut-and-paste fantasy garbage. Hitchhikers is definitely not garbage... severely whacked out, but not garbage. ^_^
