denim buddies
Mar. 13th, 2005 05:43 amFirst off, my latest obsession. Who needs invisible friends when you have these guys? ^_^
[images of Sephiroth and Spike Spiegel as rag dolls; they are now at my deviantArt gallery]
The Sephiroth one was really too small, it was almost impossible to turn his body inside out after I stitched most of it. He did require less fabric, which would have been better for Spike cuz I'm basically out of the blue star material now other than shreds. I only have gold thread, hence the large amount of it used in the dolls. I like the end effect though, which is why I didn't bother borrowing a different color from Mom. I also used some black embroidery thread for the stitching on Sephie's clothes so they would be more black. You know, when you break down his shapes to such a basic level, he looks like an ancient samurai warrior. And Spike... poor Spike, I keep thinking he looks like some fat manager of a taxi company or something. *snicker*
Other news... Ah yes, Sky Captain And The World Of Crap is truly a horrid movie. Yeah, I'd been warned (multiple times) but I wasn't present when the video was rented. So I watched it anyways (it put Dad to sleep) and I have this to say: 10 steps backwards in movie making and about 20 in acting. I want my two hours back (but at least it wasn't a complete waste of time, as I was working on Sephie). 'Nuff said.
The Forgotten, on the other hand, was most excellent. Hell, I just watched it three times in a row, the second time was the special extended version. I like the theatrical cut better. I haven't had a movie soundtrack in years hit me with that "OMG I HAVE TO HAVE THIS!" feeling (frankly, it's been too long) but it got me tonight. Bah, need money.
My fingers hurt from a needle being unkind to them (or my being unkind to the needle). But at least I got all my files backed up from my parents' computer finally (this one) as I had no good way to get 500+ megs of junk from here to the basement. But I got the CD/DVD burner working again! The program I was trying to use apparently doesn't work with Windows 2000. D'oh! But hey, it's all good now. Oh, and I found Mom and Dad's old copy of Office 95, so I get to use it since they have Office 2003 now. I haven't had any version of Office on my PC since my Office 97 disks went missing years ago. I can finally spell check again! Wheeeeeeee!! ^_^
