chocobo insanity results
Oct. 9th, 2004 03:25 amYesh, I promised this ages ago. So here it is... the statistics for breeding chocobos. This is from a total of 25 attempts by 2 Great chocobo parents to make little chirpy things.
color ----- % chance
---------------------
green -------- 84%
blue --------- 16%
gender ----- % chance
---------------------
male --------- 12%
female ------- 88%
color/gender ----- % chance
----------------------------
green female -------- 80%
green male ---------- 4%
blue female --------- 8%
blue male ----------- 8%
This would explain why it is so darn hard to get a green male. A 4% chance?? YEAGH! And it also explains why you usually get green females. 80% chance. Yeesh. I always like getting a green male so I can call him Spike ;) after, of course, the notorious Spike Spiegel.
From a very short test with a Green Female and a Blue Male, I got one Black Male chocobo baby and one Black Female chocobo baby. So off that very short run, you could say you have a 50/50 chance to get a boy or a girl, and it will always be black.
I don't have the statistics worked out on paper for Gold parents. Doh! I tell you what... the downtime on Gold parents attempting to make a Gold baby is just thoroughly insane. I made six of the Gold chocobos mostly because I was obsessed with proving a rumor wasn't true. I'll list that rumor and the other one I blew out of the water here:
1) Beating Joe 100 times does NOT get you a Rainbow Chocobo as a prize from Joe
2) Six Gold chocobos each winning 30 S Class races won't give you a X Class chocobo (the rumor was probably fake anyways as it was hard to tell just what you were supposed to do... English wasn't the primary language of whoever wrote it)
