teh 3d card bluez...

I started patching EverQuest. Of all things. It was current... um... last year sometime. Soooo... lots of patching ahead, on dialup anyways.
I don't even have an active account right now. But I figured what the heck. Mom still hasn't talked to Dad about FIOS... but she IS going to get a new 3D card for the computer. I just looked inside the case and discovered it's going to have to be a PCI card (grrr, the joys of buy used Dells). The reason why the video card is getting an upgrade is a) it needs one badly (it's a 4 meg Intell-POS card) and b) Peter's new game, LEGO Star Wars won't run on anything less than a 32 meg card. The price of PCI cards versus AGP is nuts... PCI is way more expensive. Even though it's older technology (isn't AGP supposed to be better??). Sucky. Meh. I gotta do some more surfing and price checking. Meh.
I see from the new pictures on EQ's patcher that there's yet another expansion out. Dragons of Norrath. Maybe I heard a joke about it on GUComics... I forget. I get a lot of my gaming news from that site. >P If we get FIOS, I'll be reknewing my EQ account for a month, so I can finally say goodbye to the new friends I made on my new server. If they think I fell off the planet, they wouldn't be too far from the truth. As I remember it was either Juno's horrible connection or upgrading my parents' computer to Win2K that screwed my ability to play EQ... then I had to cancel anyways cuz of money issues.
Since then, I figured out that the computer had some horrifically early version of DirectX installed, thanks to the Win2K upgrade. GRRR!!! It had been DX9.0 or whatever before the upgrade... so I reinstalled it. I bet EQ runs now... *snort*
